Promotion of Malta’s Funds Industry in London

The Malta Funds Industry Association and FinanceMalta are pleased to announce that they will be co-hosting the Annual Malta Funds Conference at the Corinthia Hotel in London, on Thursday, the 5th of November 2015.

“In an increasingly competitive market, our remit is to represent the interests of our members by promoting and communicating Malta’s financial services industry value proposition,“ said Mr. Ivan Grech, Business Development Manager at Finance Malta, “. This conference is just one of the many events that we organise on a regular basis to create networking opportunities and long-term value for our members and for the country. There is definitely potential for further growth and we are working to strengthen Malta’s reputation as an international centre serving global business and build on the success that has been achieved so far in the financial services industry.”

The conference aims to deliver a specific agenda portraying Malta as a well-established jurisdiction of considerable depth and sophistication with a robust regulatory regime. The asset management sector in Malta has seen fast growth driven by new fund set ups and re-domiciliation from non-EU jurisdictions to a total of nearly 600 investment funds consisting of PIS, UCITS and AIFs. Malta was also voted the best European Hedge Fund Domicile by Hedge Fund Review in both 2013 and 2014 and continues to be a popular choice for both EU and non-EU alternative fund managers.

Within a wider context, currently Malta is today a domicile for 60 insurance operations, 27 credit institutions, 39 financial institutions and 147 investment services operators covering, asset advisory, asset management and custody operations.

Mr Anatoli Grech, Executive Secretary of the Malta Funds Industry Association said,  “London offers an excellent opportunity to gain access to fund managers, investors and experts within the global industry and network with peers; whilst also hearing from influential speakers who will address Malta’s value roposition in the asset management sector. The agenda focuses on showcasing the opportunities for the setting up of regulated collective investment vehicles in Malta that include Professional Investor Funds, Alternative Investment Funds, Private Equity, Venture Capital Funds, Loan Funds, Shariah Funds and UCITS funds.

Another theme under discussion will be the advantages of Malta as the location of choice for international servicing operations including Asset Management & Investment Advisory, Administration, Custody, Depo-Light and Advisory and Corporate Services.
