Position: Operations Team Lead

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Team Lead at DASL in Malta. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments such as Account Management, Finance, and Trading, performing a range of operational processing duties, as well as related intragroup companies.

Reporting Line: Head of Custody Operations.

Key Interactions: Other departments, banks, brokers, custodians, external software vendors, external service providers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations team.
  • Plan Operations team Daily work.
  • Lead Daily Operations stand up call.
  • Coordinate ad hoc requests/duties for different clients (operations queries coming from different FinOPS clients).
  • Oversee the execution of client transactions, including trade settlements, account openings, and account maintenance.
  • Take part in hiring process.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices Review and Release external payments.
  • Setting up KPIs for the team and reporting on a daily basis to key stakeholders.
  • Act as main expertise on any Operations matter.
  • Act as a point of contact for client queries addressed to Operations and resolve any operational issues or inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure that all Operational tasks are done on time and keep the record of any overdue tasks or of Operational risk events.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial operations.
  • Review and submit regulatory reports produced by Operations team
  • Act a back up for any of Operations team members.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for queries or issues related to transactions on clients’ accounts.
  • Perform ad-hoc reconciliations of data produced by the Operations department.
  • Uphold a strong compliance culture within the firm. Complete any additional tasks related to those mentioned above or as assigned by the company.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or economics or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in custody operations or similar role in a financial institution.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
  • Team player who can work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Detail-oriented and self-organized, able to perform routine daily tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal efficiently with different internal departments and external counterparts.
  • High degree of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and products is an advantage.
  • Passion for operations, finance, and technology.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.


Salary: Commensurate with role and market.
